Steve Nash’s flow became so popular, it earned him the nickname “Hair Canada.”
Magazines like Toro noted how Nash’s “trademark cut” contributed to his superstar image. Kids all over North America started trying to rock that same longer hairstyle. Even his ex-wife Alejandra loved his hair longer.
While Nash himself didn’t care much about the attention to his hair, fans and media stayed hyped on it. When he finally cut it shorter, it made headlines!
And when video game makers included Nash in NBA ball games, fans demanded they accurately capture Hair Canada in digital form too.

But did Nash quit? Nah. This Canadian was nashty tough. He got his nose bandaged up and hustled right back on the court to keep battling alongside his Phoenix Suns teammates.
And even with his face a bloody mess, Nashty Nash kept nailing his signature pull-up treys, sinking sweet layups, and dishing dimes. He put the team on the back when it mattered most, just straight gritting it out through the pain.

When Steve Nash won his first NBA MVP award in 2005, he became the first player from Canada to ever claim that honor – a historic achievement!

The nickname “Nash Gash” comes from how tough Nash acted in the 2010 playoffs against the Spurs. With the Suns already beating down San Antonio 3-zip in the series, Nash took an elbow straight to his right eye – leaving it swollen shut!
But did Nash quit with one eye all jacked up? Nah. Captain Canada ain’t no quitter! He hustled back onto the court in the 4th quarter and kept ballin’ outta his mind, putting up 10 points and 5 dimes for the Suns.
Nash was hitting crazy one-eyed runners and no-look dimes like some kinda pirate-wizard! Just completely beastin’ through the pain. Even with his eye swollen nasty and bleeding, Nash played like an absolute boss.
When the game got rough, Nash Gash got even tougher! No injury could stop him from leading the Suns to a big playoff W.
One-eyed Stevie Wonder
After Nash got his eye jacked up and kept dominating the Spurs with one good peeper, some fans started calling him “One-eyed Stevie Wonder.” And I mean, playing that good with one swollen eye? Dude must have some magical vision just like the legend Stevie Wonder!
The regular “Stevie Wonder” nickname also took off more after that incident too. Because Nash continued dishing dimes and draining treys with basically one eye, he reminded people of how Stevie Wonder could perform and thrill crowds, even while blind.
So One-eyed Stevie Wonder and Stevie Wonder were perfect fits for Nash’s inspiring playoff performance. Playing through injury and still ballin’ on the Spurs like he had a sixth sense.
Mr. 50 40 90
Steve Nash got dubbed “Mr. 50 40 90” for what might be his most impressive basketball achievement ever, joining the NBA’s crazy exclusive 50-40-90 shooting club.
This club recognizes players who shoot over 50% from the field, 40% from three, and 90% from the foul line over an entire season. We’re talking peak accuracy and consistency here. Only the all-time sharpshooter greats make the cut.
Well, Nash didn’t just make the club once – he hit those wild percentages FOUR separate seasons, putting him in tiny company with Larry Legend and KD. And Stevie almost pulled it off five seasons straight too! (He shot 89.9% on free throws in 06-07, just shy of 90%).
